Saint Paul Voices

“Saint Paul gives me what public schools can’t — a Christian atmosphere where my faith can grow.”

“It seems the teachers are here 24/7. They help with homework, sports, class activities, and weekend stuff. And it’s not only for four years! Once you call Saint Paul home, you’re part of it forever. You’ll always be in people’s thoughts, memories, legacies, and prayers.”

“Classes at Saint Paul teach me facts but the atmosphere teaches me God’s love.”

“The small, close-knit environment lets you know everyone and everyone know you. The teachers know you as a person not just as a student.”

“You get a little piece of the world in a small town in Missouri.”

“Life was tough at first, being away from home. I would say to myself ‘What am I doing here? Where is this taking me?’ But then I got involved and things started to change — BIG TIME! Now I’m so busy with activities and school that life is almost frantic but fun!”

“My life is full of blessings. I have friends from China, Norway, Montana, Minnesota, Florida, and Concordia. I get to be with my friends all day. I take so many things at Saint Paul for granted, like walking outside between classes with my friends, where people sometimes do cartwheels and sing.”

“My biggest concern about coming to Saint Paul was that I wouldn’t have friends. That fear was gone the first day!”

“Saint Paul is like a big family – a family in Christ with members from around the world. It’s the best family you could ever want!”

“At Saint Paul, we’re FAMILY. You can’t say that about most schools. High school can be challenging, academically and socially. Having 170 brothers and sisters going through the same stuff makes it easier!”

“Boarding school places you in the ‘maturing mode.’  In the dorms you learn to live with other people and live without total dependency on your parents.”

“Boarding school isn’t about being away from your parents or getting into a good college. It’s about learning to live in the real world.”

“The dorms are a mixture of cultures. We put our differences aside and come together to share our lives. There is a bond that binds us whether we need support in finding the right pair of shoes or a shoulder to cry on. We’re sisters!”

“I definitely see Jesus in the attitudes of the teachers. Everything they say and do is so different from my public school teachers. It changes the whole learning environment.”

“Jesus is everywhere. He is on the banner in the hall that we pass daily; He is in our religion and academic classes; He is on the sports fields. He shines through in the Bible verses posted on the bathroom walls. But most importantly, He is in the hearts of the students and teachers.”

“Saint Paul sets high standards and makes me push myself.”

“A day at Saint Paul can seem like any day in any school — we get up, sit through class, do homework, go to bed and then get up and do it all over again. But once you’re part of Saint Paul, you realize it’s so much more. Classes are taught so we can use our knowledge for God’s glory.”

“In small classes you can have great discussions. My Current Issues class had only seven students! We had the greatest debates and I learned so much!”

“There’s no time to be bored! Life at Saint Paul is busy, busy, busy — class work, practice, games, homework, and friends!”

“The only person who can limit your success at Saint Paul is you. The teachers will do anything to help you succeed, but you have to want it.”

At Saint Paul, my life is full! There is never a dull moment. If I’m not at a sports practice or game, I’m involved in a social activity or community project. There are so many chances to be involved. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

“One may think, ‘What’s Christian about football?’ You’d be surprised. We’re taught that whatever we do, we do it for God.”

“Sports have taught me to have an all-or-nothing attitude, teamwork, hustle, hard work, determination, and good sportsmanship.”

“Sports at Saint Paul are different from sports at other schools because winning isn’t our most important goal; it’s giving glory to God through sportsmanship and teamwork.”

“I’m never afraid to be who I really am here or talk about what I believe. It opens up my spiritual life in a way that helps me grow in my faith.”

“There is something different about the people here.  It’s like we are filled with so much joy that we can’t contain it. It just bubbles out!

“I see Jesus when I walk to school each morning and see the faculty having Bible study. I see Him when we pray before we eat and when we sing at chapel. I see Him when a new student enrolls. All of life here has Jesus behind it.”

“I grew up in a Christian family with devoted parents. I’ve always gone to Sunday School and know Bible stories by heart. But God never really seemed personally real to me until I came to Saint Paul.”

“I appreciate my parents so much more since coming to Saint Paul. I realize just what wonderful, awesome, amazing, caring, and loving people they are. I truly am blessed to have been raised in a Christian home.”

“Saint Paul isn’t only a college prep school. It is a LIFE prep school.”

“No matter how hard it was for my mom to let go, there is no way that she, my dad or I would ever change our minds about the decision to come to Saint Paul.”

“It’s pretty hard to let go, both for parents and kids. The good part is that our relationship is so much better when I do see them.”

“I have grown in my faith; I have grown intellectually; I have grown emotionally. I have learned to adapt to 50 dramatic girls all living under one roof. I have learned to manage eight classes and at least four assignments a day. Saint Paul has helped me grow into the person I want to be.”

“Two years ago I couldn’t imagine myself anywhere except this small town. Now after everything I’ve learned and experienced, I know I can do anything. I can see myself in college or law school or med school. I can see myself in Europe or Africa. I can see myself anywhere my dreams take me. But most importantly I can see God there with me.”

“Saint Paul has taught me responsibility and to take charge of my actions. I’ve become an independent person. But it’s also taught me that I need others.”

“Who will I become? A missionary, a better parent, a teacher, a lifetime friend, a sister to people all over the world, a saint? It is here where students receive a firm base so no matter who they become, they know who they are and to whom they belong.”
